USD 417 Bringing The Farm to The Table for School Lunches
Morris County's own Becky Shearer, Director of Food Service for USD 417 and Superintendent Tyson Eslinger, recently showcased her food service department's innovative Farm to Table program to the State Board of Education in Topeka. This initiative is transforming how we approach school nutrition while supporting our local economy.
Shearer's presentation highlighted the various strategies USD 417 employs to bring fresh, local produce directly to our students and staff's lunch trays. By partnering with local farmers, ranchers, and producers, we're not only improving the quality and nutritional value of school meals but also reinvesting in our community.
We are proud of Becky and her leadership, as well as her team. It is not easy to ensure that all guidelines are being met in the school nutrition world. We believe these types of opportunities are important and show USD 417's commitment to giving our students and staff the best and supporting our local community.
